A Happy New Year! Here's the first update in 2010.

As you may already know, Wayne's website has gone through a nice renewal work. Besides the exciting blogs of Dennis and Mike, it is posted on the Links page. Additionally, a Grande Ballroom story is being made as an independent film,"Louder Than Love - The Grande Ballroom Story". Including a wonderful trailer, the information has also been posted on the Links page.

• 「アナキストに煙草を」の告知を冒頭ページに掲載させて頂いた。コマーシャリズムは極力排除して作ってきたMC5 Japan だけれど、この本は１人でも多くの人に読んで欲しいので、この宣伝行為はご理解下さい。

しかし、たとえばウェイン・クレイマーのソロ・アルバムをライセンスして欲しくても彼ら（＝メジャー・レーベル）は見向きもしないのであって、よほどのメガ・バンドやそのメンバーでない限り、MC５に限らずかつて知名度や人気があったロック・ミュージシャンが歳を重ね円熟してカムバックし、新しく意欲的なマテリアルをリリースしたくても、レコード会社が求めるのは昔ビッグだった頃のサウンドばかりで、新譜が入り込む余地はほとんどないのが現状である。CD売上が減少の一途をたどっている中で、紙ジャケ戦略がついにMC５にも及んだかと感慨深いものがある。

As may be the case with other markets, in recent years the Japanese Rock business is all about nostalgia instead of discovering innovative new bands or releasing new materials of "old" musicians who made a comeback, further evolved and even in a more creative form. Under the decreasing CD sales what the major labels do is to re-issue (a.k.a. recycle) what they once so inappropriately regarded as out-of-date by putting new attire which we call kami-jakeh (paper sleeve replica) in Japan. Some Marketing wizard must have advised that the "old" fans should be attracted to add a mini-LP paper replica to their collection. Well, anyway, it's good for the fan to have remastered paper sleeve replica version of the official 3 albums of the MC5, on the SMH-CD, so...
