歌詞を邦訳する意味はあるのか？と思うことはある。でも、原文の言語を理解しないまま置き去りにされていいということはない、と考え直す。特にウェイン・クレイマーや、彼に多くの歌詞を提供しているミック・ファレンのように、意味のある、時としてメッセージを持った歌詞を書く人の歌は、やっぱり訳してみたいと思う。
で、敢行したこれは、私の「解訳」だ。曲の選択に関してはもっぱら自分の都合。１曲ずつ丹念に訳して少しずつ増やしていきたいと思っている。
I sometimes question the significance of translating lyrics in foreign languages into Japanese, partly because results are mostly lame. Then, reflecting further and I admit the importance; after all, nobody should be left behind without knowing what a song is all about. Especially, the songs written by songwriters like Wayne Kramer and Mick Farren, who write very interesting and profound lyrics, incline me to put them into Japanese.
So, I dared to translate - or rather, I interpreted them. The selection is based merely on my own convenience. I'll continue to work on putting their songs into Japanese, studying the contents, spending enough time.
